Fall is Here!

Well, Fall is upon us.  Summer came and went.   There is no evidence here, that anything slowed down during the lazy days of August. Now we have already hit the mid point of September.  For a brief moment,  I would like to comment on the concept of community. We have an amazing community here, at Copperfield Hill. We opened the month with Neighborhood Night Out. Our neighbors and staff enjoyed a wonderful luau themed picnic dinner out on the front lawn while we all listened to some fun music. When I looked out onto the crowd, I saw a vibrant group that was sharing the simple joys of summer: a picnic, music and good conversation. Later in the month, Sister Gert Brixius from the Parish Community of St. Bridget & St. Austin came by for a visit. Seven residents gathered on the second floor to visit with her. While there, two women realized that they had shared a big church history together, but they had never met. Introductions were made and phone numbers were shared. I think one of the greatest things we do at Copperfield Hill is “connect”. Being able to connect with people and the needs they have is the basis for a feeling of belonging, comfort and confidence in your environment. All of the things we strive to do here at Copperfield. September brought the incredible Copperfield Cabaret.  By the end of that fun-filled evening, our community had raised close to $2,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.  The Robbinsdale Meet and Greet was another opportunity for us to get out into the greater Robbinsdale area to meet out neighbors, polititians and fellow business owners and merchants.  There were over 200 people who stopped by the Copperfield booth to say hello.  Soon we will celebrate the Confident Choices for Senior Living Award that was given to us by Aging Services of Minnesota.  We will celebrate with a pig roast on September 18th hosted by Copperfield for our residents, their families, our vendors and friends.  We will close the month with  the Walk for the Alzheimer’s Association. We will pile in the van on September 27th, and head to the Target Field and do our walk together to support research for this debilitating disease.  Please join in on any or all of these great activities. Because, community isn’t just a place, it is a feeling. Enjoy the rest of the month!
